Pier Magazine Brief

During the last year of Uni we were able to enter into the cover competition for the Pier Magazine. I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the finalists for this competition, which focused on what summer means to you.

I chose to focus my piece on cicadas. The summer of 2024 had a double brood emergence which hadn’t taken place since 1803. In honor of this event, the nostalgic sound, and cicada shells scattered about at home I wanted to represent my personal story growing up in Alabama.
